OBX Outfitters Urges North Carolinians to Recognize “Art in Our Backyard” in Support of Local Artists

MANTEO & APEX, N.C.--OBX Outfitters (www.obxoutfitters.com), purveyors of Outer Banks memories through fun, comfortable, Made-in-USA casual apparel, are expanding their Wearable Art line in 2013 featuring work by North Carolina artists. As new designs are released throughout the year, OBX Outfitters will be working to shine the spotlight on local artists to help residents and visitors recognize the incredible -- yet sometimes overlooked -- art in our own backyard. “North Carolina has a thriving arts scene from the mountains to the sea, especially with regard to visual artists,” OBX Outfitters President Stacy Menzies said, adding, “We’re honored to have the opportunity to work with some of these talented individuals and share their creations with others.”


OBX Outfitters introduced its Wearable Art line at the First Annual Outer Banks Bluegrass Festival in October 2012 with three t-shirt designs by Outer Banks resident E. M. Corsa and Joshua Davis from Raleigh.

Corsa’s one-of-a-kind “Beach Bunny” features a multi-color, whimsical watercolor, while Davis marked the mix of music and ocean breezes with his “Bluegrass At the Beach” in addition to his “Find Your Happy Place ORV” design celebrating the favorite, yet quickly disappearing, pastime of driving an off-road vehicle on the beaches of the Outer Banks.

Four new additions to the Wearable Art line due out in early 2013 will feature designs by Corsa and Davis. OBX Outfitters is continuing with outreach to arts organizations and is looking to expand its working relationships with local artists. Launched in the summer of 2011, OBX Outfitters puts high-quality, Made-in-the-USA  apparel into the hands of people who want to celebrate the unique cultural, environmental, and geographical attributes of the Outer Banks.
