RALEIGH, N.C. -- Myers Bigel Sibley & Sajovec, P.A.
(Myers Bigel), the largest independent patent law firm in North
Carolina, is pleased to announce that attorneys Stephen J. Petroski and
Peter D. Siddoway have been named new partners effective January 1,
2015. Petroski and Siddoway join 25 previously named partners at Myers
Bigel with experience and degrees in a particular technology before
earning their J.D.s, providing a rare perspective to deal with unique
technical nuances of patent subjects.
“We’re thrilled to be able to recognize the
important contributions of Steve and Peter to their colleagues and
clients in pursuit of developing patents with real-world value,”
Managing Partner David Purks said, adding, “They both represent our
dedication to furthering best practices in patent law.”
Siddoway
is a member of the firm’s busy Litigation practice. His Bachelor’s
Degree in Chemistry from the University of Utah and prior industry
experience as a chemist enables him to address intellectual property
disputes, and particularly patent litigation. He is admitted to practice
in both Ohio and North Carolina, as well as before the United States
Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Patent and
Trademark Office. Siddoway’s experience in patent litigation involves a
wide range of technologies, including digital cameras, automotive
components, chemical compounds, and LEDs, and has litigated matters
involving trademarks, restrictive covenants in employment agreements,
and trade secrets. He also has significant experience in the field of
Inter Partes Review and other contested proceedings in the Patent
Office.
Active in the firm's Mechanical and Trademark practice
groups, Petroski is a registered Professional Engineer in North
Carolina, utilizing his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical
Engineering and Materials Science, cum laude, from Duke University and
his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the
University of Illinois. Following a five-year stint as a development and
product engineer at Ingersoll Rand, Petroski received his Juris Doctor
degree with honors from the University of North Carolina. He is a member
of the North Carolina Bar and is registered to practice before the U.S.
Patent and Trademark Office. Petroski has experience in patent
preparation and prosecution in mechanical and electromechanical
technologies and in client counseling including assisting clients in
avoiding patent infringement.
