The growing company is also seeing interest from individuals and businesses in new market sectors, Yanyo said, such as realtors who are using Slateplate as a housewarming gift for new home buyers.

“Real estate agents are sending us photos of homes which we then digitally etch into a Slateplate along with the address, which they then leave in recently purchased homes for the new owners as a very special gift,” she explained.  “We also can engrave the backside of the Slateplate with the realtor information, as a consistent business card.  We find our customers tend to leave their Slateplates out on display.”

Wedding dates, company logos, and personalized messages are other custom engraving the company is doing lately from its production studio and demo facility in Garner, just outside of Raleigh.
