MORRISVILLE, N.C.--Innovation and commercialization firm Montie Design (www.montie.com) has expanded its line of troubleshooting tools for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with the release if its new 13.56 MHZ - ISO 14443 / Contactless RFID Field Detector. The device allows OEMs to successfully identify where their products' 13.56 MHz RFID portals are emitting signals. "We've been providing RFID products since 2009, releasing new tools periodically due to market demand and the needs of our clients," company President Montie Roland said.
RFID, or Radio-Frequency Identification, functions along the same line as a bar code or magnetic strip on credit cards, providing a unique identifier for an electronic device. It has wide applicability in numerous engineering and manufacturing industry sectors, and is being used more frequency in security applications as well as in mobile phones and wireless communication devices.
The new RFID Field Detector detects the presence of the 13.56MHz signal emitted by ISO 14443 RFID portals, also known as contactless readers, conveniently showing where the RFID field is strong and where it is weak.
The new 13.56 MHZ - ISO 14443 RFID Field Detector was developed around the concept of helping clients get their product to market with as little investment in time and money as possible, and is easy to use: users simply hold the card in close proximity to a reader antenna, and if the unit is radiating power, then the LED comes on, providing the ability to understand the size and strength of the field for the portal / contactless reader. The RFID Field Detector uses minimal materials, no batteries, and can be branded with a customized logo upon request. This is also a valuable add-on for troubleshooting systems.
The tool can be easily integrated into every 13.56 MHz system customers sell as a great way to provide an added value, or can be sold as a way to increase customer satisfaction, provide a valuable tool, and bring in additional profits.
Montie Design operates its main Research Triangle design shop as well as a secondary manufacturing facility in Spring Creek, N.C., north of Asheville. In addition to having a staff that has help clients bring over 750 creations to life, the firm enjoys great success with its own Montie Gear line of outdoor equipment it sells directly to consumers.
