RESEARCH TRIANGLE, N.C. – Tiger Eye Sensor, Inc. (www.tigereyesensor.com),
the leader in the hands-free, wearable, personal security device
market, is proud to announce that Arun Kumar, D.Sc., has joined its
talented team of experienced professionals as Chief Technology Officer.
Dr. Kumar, who brings a wealth of image and video coding and compression
skills, is leading development of the company’s innovative Tiger Eye
Security Sensor (TESS).
“The technology behind TESS makes it one of
the most sophisticated devices ever to enter the burgeoning personal
security marketplace,” CJ Scarlet, Tiger Eye founder and president,
said, adding, “Dr. Kumar’s experience with video and signal processing
is particularly important, given the product’s unique image capture
aspect.”
A small, hands-free, wearable personal security device
that activates when the wearer calls out for help, TESS illuminates the
area and begins recording events to help identify and prosecute an
assailant through photographic images and audio recordings which are
sent to the cloud.
In addition to recording an incident, TESS
helps stop and prevent attacks by connecting with a live operator who
warns the perpetrator to leave the scene and summons police to the
user’s GPS location. TESS is currently under development and is expected
to be released for sale to the public in mid-Spring 2015.
Dr.
Kumar has 37 years experience designing efficient algorithms, designing
software, and building hardware to do calculations at speeds high enough
to keep up with the fire-hose of data characteristic of high-definition
video. He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical
Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur; an MBA from
the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta; and a Master’s in
Computer Science and Doctor of Science from Washington University in St.
Louis.
He joins a Tiger Eye team which also includes Dr. Lynn
Yanyo, CEO, in addition to the company’s Founder CJ Scarlet. With a B.S
in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Ph.D.
Polymer Science and Engineering from The University of Akron, Dr. Yanyo
spent the first half of her career creating and patenting new materials
technologies for aerospace, automotive and electronics industries. In
the last two decades she led technical, marketing and sales teams to
create profitable new businesses based on innovations in adhesives,
controllable steering and vehicle suspensions, chip manufacturing and
biometric sensing. Dr. Yanyo has published articles on materials
development, modeling, new business development, and branding and
customer engagement and has received numerous awards for her
publications, presentations and marketing communications. She holds
eight U.S. patents and their foreign equivalents, and serves on several
university and corporate advisory boards.
Tiger Eye is a majority
